Fernando Leal Calderon est professeur à Bordeaux INP. Il dirige actuellement l'une des composantes de Bordeaux INP, l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie, de Biologie et de Physique. Cette école forme des ingénieurs dans les domaines de la physico-chimie, des matériaux et des sciences alimentaires. Il est également vice-président du pôle de compétitivité "AgriSud Ouest Innovation" situé en Occitanie et Nouvelle-Aquitaine, spécialisé dans l'accompagnement des projets d'innovation dans l'agroalimentaire et l'agro-industrie.
Son activité de recherche est consacrée à la physico-chimie des milieux dispersés, notamment les émulsions et les mousses, au sein de l'Institut de Chimie et Biologie des Membranes et des Nanoobjets basé à Pessac en Gironde. Ses travaux trouvent des applications dans différents domaines tels que l'agroalimentaire, la cosmétique, la pharmacie et le génie pétrolier.

 

Olga SAYANOVA, Rothamsted Research, Harpenden (UK)

 Engineering synthetic pathways for the sustainable production of high-value molecules in plants

 Olga Sayanova, PhD is a Principle Investigator at Rothamsted Research, UK, where she studies the fatty acid biosynthesis and lipid metabolism in plants and algae. She has extensive expertise in plant metabolic engineering and played an essential role in the first successful reconstitution of omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) pathway in transgenic oilseeds and microalgae. She is currently leading research on developing synthetic biology approaches to engineer oil seed crops and marine microorganisms for the sustainable production of high value molecules.

Farid Chemat

Vegetable oils as alternative solvents for green oleo extraction, purification and formulation for cosmetic, food and nutraceutical products 

 Farid Chemat is a full Professor of Chemistry at Avignon University (France), Director of GREEN Extraction Team (alternative extraction techniques and solvents, and scientific coordinator of PEEV “Plateforme Eco Extraction du Végétal” dealing with dissemination of research and education on green extraction technologies. Born in 1968 (Blida), he received his PhD (1994) degree in process engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse-France. After periods of postdoctoral research work with Prolabo-Merck (1995-1997), he spent two years (1997-1999) as senior researcher at University of Wageningen (The Netherlands). In 1999, he moved to the University of La Réunion (France DOM) as assistant professor and since 2006 holds the position of Professor at the University of Avignon (France). His main research interests are focused on innovative and sustainable extraction techniques, protocols and solvents for food, pharmaceutical, fine chemistry, biofuel, and cosmetic applications. His research activity is documented by more than 170 scientific peer-reviewed papers, 10 books and 10 patents.
